SPA MANDALA DUBLIN

The Mandala Spa in Dublin's La Stampa Hotel has developed two new treatments to ease away the stress of work -- the hour-long Ytsara Qi Desktop Recovery Massage and Sundari Rooibos Tea and Honey Enzyme Brightening Facial, which lasts for 70 minutes.

The spa, which is a little taste of the Orient in the heart of the capital, has a lovely, relaxing vibe, and as soon as you enter, you can definitely feel the cares of the day begin to disappear.

It's very much a day spa, so you change into a towelling robe and complimentary slippers before entering your treatment room.

The aim of the three-stage Sundari facial is to brighten lifeless complexions dulled by spending too many hours in front of a computer. It involves a unique exfoliating complex of Rooibos Tea, honey and fruit enzymes to leave skin clear and smooth, while the use of neroli oil stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis, improving skin elasticity, firmness and cell regeneration.

This is followed up by Mandala's signature Marmassage -- bliss! Afterwards, you're led to the relaxation room, and because the Mandala spa embraces a holistic philosophy, there's no cheap celebrity mags to destroy your karma. Instead, sip your herbal tea, lie back on the huge comfy cushions and indulge in a little enlightment offered by the numerous spiritual books available.

The pros

Therapist Vimi has a lovely manner, which immediately put me at ease, and my skin felt great following the facial and in the days after.

The cons

At €150, this is one expensive treatment; and while the results were good, I'm not sure they were the equivalent of two facials, which the price may suggest. And no-one wants to leave the chilled out environs of a spa to walk through a (thankfully quiet) bar.
